(Are you tired of me launching things yet? I hope not- because the year is young, so who KNOWS what else 2018 holds!)

As much as I love the opportunity and the outlet blogging gives me, nothing makes me feel more like me than creating. God gave me a deep love and appreciation for the vibrancy of color and the beautiful path of a paintbrush stroke that makes my heart so full. And over the years, I’ve doodled, drawn and painted for fun- sharing my art as gifts to those I love. And now, I’m so excited to expand my circle and love on YOU with custom art from CROWNED. Let me tell you more about how the name came to be!

THE INSPO

“You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” Isaiah 62:3

I read Isaiah 62:3 a few months ago- I’m sure I’ve read it before, but this time it knocked on my heart in a new way. Let’s break it down, shall we?

Crowns are cool-I mean, I’ve been wearing an invisible one all my life (LOL). But a royal diadem? That sounds so… regal!

While a physical crown is beautiful and certainly has monetary value- it is lifeless. A king’s crown can’t restore the nation, it can’t bring peace, and we would all feel a little silly bowing down to *just* a crown. It is simply used to represent the authority of it’s owner; the crown or the diadem proclaims the significance of the wearer.

And although this passage in Isaiah is talking about the restoration of Jerusalem, I rejoice in the fact that He’s talking about me (us) too.

I, RaKia Harris, am an announcement, a shining symbol of the glory and magnificence of God. I am HIS CROWN. Stop and let that sink in!

I have accomplished nothing. I am not worthy of praise, opportunity, blessings, glory, recognition. But God, Who is gracious, loving, kind, powerful and mighty delights in showing Himself through me. What a King!!!

Starting this business and naming it “Crowned” is me just praising my King for any gifts and abilities He’s given to me and sharing them with you! (And also, to be TOTALLY honest, I’m wishing for a fairytale ending that involves a collection of crowns and high tea. I blame Megan Markle for resurrecting my childhood princess dreams!)
